  1. Problem:

I get a high pitch chirp on the final SVCD when combinding segmented files. At the point of the combined segment the is a high pitch chirp.

I am using VirtualDub 1.48 to capture the segmented AVI. I then convert it with Tmpgenc 2.52 into SVCD 480x480 VBR. I then Merge the SVCD segments with Tmpgenc "merge/cut" tool. I create a compliant SVCD 1.0 with VCDEasy.

A high pitch chirp acures at each segmented merge point. Anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

I too have had this problem and haven't yet figured out how to fix it.

I have heard, however, that MyFlix is a much better cutter/joiner, although I haven't yet used it personally.

  3. That's because you are using TMPGenc to join the clips, and happens on VCD's joined with TMPGenc too. Most other joining programs will not give you that "chirp", but WILL give you a few frames of jitter at that same point. I prefer the jitter to the "chirp"

  4. I FIXED IT!!! usind Tmpgenc

I found out that you have to use the "Correct" Option in the "Merge/Cut" Mpeg Tools.

It will get rid of that chip/beep at the join points. It is due to being inbetween a GOP point, thus it encodes the odd point as noise.

I looked at the Tmpgenc BBS board

  5. CORRECTION !!!!

    It DID NOT fix it

It does fix it at some merge points but then it appears again at others.

I would either just burn the mpg segments in sequence to see what would happen. Or, if you have a program like Premiere, export the sound only out of the AVI segments (all together as one), convert audio, demux your merged mpg chain and then mux in the new mpg audio.

    Edit:
"mux" stands for multiplex right? If not, then, well, there you have... multiplex - demultiplex

  7. TheSeven7hSon,

I know I could do that, but thats alot of work and time and it already takes alot of time capturing editing and converting it before merging.

Is there a simpler and easier way? Another program maybe?

yeah, sorry. Premiere is all I know (and still learning). It is a pain. I don't use avisynthstuff whatever. I make a final .avi and then later convert. Sometimes, I make .avis into 3min segments ready to burn straight onto a CD so that I could then later bring back the edited video into Premiere. If I do get popping after merging all of those batched processed 3min mpgs then I do what I said about exporting sounding only. It's work on top of already a lot of work but... that's just the way I do it. ... sometimes. But I should still try use that avi tool.

Those are the only two suggestions I have. Sorry.
