    I have a Pioneer DVR-104 updated with latest firmware, running under WindowsXP. It came with Cyberlink PowerDirector Pro 2.0 DE.

    1st problem: I made a video DVD fine, but when I played it back on my Samsung DVD-N501 there was no menu.. the screen was black.. none of my buttons showed up or title, but the menu song did play and I could hit the play button and play my video.

    2nd problem: I tried to use other programs - Nero 5.5.8.2., Gear Pro DVD 6.0, and a free trial of one of Ulead's products.. every program 'cept for Cyberlink says "communication error" when I tried to write/burn DVD. Do you have any ideas for me?

    Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd really like to get this thing working correctly.

    If anyone is wondering, I got an answer from Pioneer why every program was saying "error communicating" -- I went into the device manager and changed the drive from DMA to PIO transfer mode and now I can burn with other programs.
