  1. While converting a few video files from AVI to VCD, I noticed something wierd...if I watch them on my computer, I can see the subitles just fine, but on my television, the subtitles are cutoff the bottom of the screen sometimes...

In TMPeg, I have Aspect Ratio set to 1:1 VGA. Would switching it to 4:3 NTSC help when viewing them on my DVDTV combo? The wife is going nuts, as she cannot understand any japanese, and she really needs to be able to see the full subtitle to understand the anime I have having her watch with me.

    Thanks for your time.

You will have to experiment with the output size 352X240. Because the TV over scans. So what you see on the bottom of the screen on the computer will not show up on the TV. Try something like 352X224. I would do it on a CD-RW and with a small file clip so you won't be doing the whole movie all the time.
May the force be with you.

  3. I always thought that unless you are cropping the converted image should be the same. cropping is what I thought took parts of the pic out.

  4. If you are using using TMPenc there are several options in the expert settings for messing with aspect ratios. I find Full Screen keep aspect ratio works well with subtitles. When enconding with this setting I can't use the Nero menu maker.
