I currently have an 850 T-Bird and my conversion time is about 1hr30mins for 20mins of video when processing from AVI to MPEG. This is with the best settings combo I've arrived to after lots of trial and error. THe same amount used to take about 3hrs. I want to upgrade the processor to get faster processing time because I'm doing VCDs on a daily basis and everyting gets done in the nick of time for the next day; one slip and I'm clogged up for the rest of the week and don't want to tie up the system for the rest of the weekend. The fastest my system can support is 1.4GHz. What conversion times would I expect with that speed and 256RAM and an ATA100 drive for the same amount of video?

Ok, 44 looks and no reply. Somebody has to know something
I went from an Athron 650mz to a thunderbird 1.2G and had about a 70% increase in conversion speed. I think maybe alot depends on the motherboard also. I have two 1.2g thunderbird computers now with different motherboards and there is a big difference in speed. The slower one only has a 66ATA drive which probably contributes to the slower speed.
