  3. i've tried that but my cd rw drive does not come up on the list, it only has "Virtual Device" when i press choose recorder. However, when i start up nero, a notice comes up saying "Auto Insert Notification is turned on in the system configuration" then asks if i wanna turn it off, if i knew what the hell it is it may help?? I have a freecom cd rw drive and that doesn't seem to be the drive nero records to, anyone any ideas?

  4. I have dealt with both programs before....I'm not expert but i'm sure all the knowledge you can find will help. Are you using a downloaded copy or aka cracked copy? I used a cracked copy and had the same problem. I would recomend either paying the money for the nero software or find a friend that has it and use it as well.

  6. Ok! Did you uninstall the eazy CD creator before u installed Nero? otherwise Check if your cd writer is compatible with Nero, or get the latest version of nero. that would solve your problem.

  7. Ok, let's fix the problem easily.

If you are comfortable with easy cd, you don't really have to change to Nero like the rest of us. :P
But if you want performance, Nero is the one to have.
Now to the point. Close Every open app. OK? Now go to control panel and uninstal Adaptec directCD. Reboot the computer and open Nero again.
Go to the "recorder" menu and choose recorder.
If it still shows the "virtual device" only, close it, download ASPI for windows (version 4.60, avoid the 4.70 as it's a hoax), you can look for it on the "Tools" section in this site. There are many flavors of it, one is named "ASPI_XP46", another is "ASPI32v4.60", the best distribution is probably "chkASPI460" which lets you install the appropiate ASPI layer for your system.

Install the ASPI layer and reboot. Your drive is now visible and usable under any burning app available. If nero crashes while loading, search for a file called "neroapi.dll" or "neroapi32.dll" and rename it to "neroapi.dll.bak" or "neroapi32.dll.bak". When you start nero again It will tell you "Nero ASPI engine not found, swithching to system's native ASPI controller" or something like that. THIS IS NORMAL an usually happens on old Nero versions. The 5.5 and on have this issue corrected.

Also look for a Padus Driver upgrade if you happen to have a DVD-R burner. It was available at Sonic, but not anymore.
