did anyone hear what beckham said about the argentian players? he said they might use "cunning tactics" to win!! i find his comments shocking, all this from a man who kicked a player from behind in the last world cup. the press don't help in england either. they bring up the war whenever they play germany so god knows what the likes of the sun and the mirror will say about argentina over the next few days. oh, and what about sven saying england "will thrill the world" against argentina? they'll bore the world more like!
one thing's for sure, i'm glad i'm not in sapporo tonight!

unlucky nigeria, well done sweden. you only need a draw against argentina now.
But what if "cunning" argentina play out a draw against you? disaster for england!!! anyway i'm delighted henrik larsson proved himself on the world stage. the english have said he's useless because he plays in scotland, but the goals he has scored might put england out!!

    COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A GAME OF FOOTBALL!!
    ARGENTINA 0 - ENGLAND 1
The game was everything that I hoped it would be; England are dangerous underdogs.
Now the pressure is all on between Argentina and Sweden... good luck Sweden.

  6. Boring eh???

    Mediochre players???

    No team spirit???

Argentina are the most fancied team to lift the trophy.

Argentina played agressively (dirty?) and very well.

England played BETTER. England deserve to win.
I know that England won't win the world cup, we always manage to shot ourselves in the foot, but that's our concern.
At least i have got a little chance to enjoy seeing some peoples jealous, racist little mouths well and truely smacked up shut!

P.S. Well done Ireland and USA, brilliant matches and results

  7. Yep- vastly improved performance from England: even when not controlling the ball. The mediocrity is now down to a few players: Ferdinand, Owen, Scholes all played a couple of gears higher. Beckham was infljuential and Sheringham nearly scored the goal of the tournament.
    Well done!

  9. Indeed England played better than we did today...
But anyway, you don't win a football match because of a penalty.

Argentina simply SUCKED managing England counter attacks, as did not push enough on the offensive.
Our top players (Veron, Crespo and Batistuta) didn't know where the ball was nor did they run to get the passes.

I hope we can defeat Sweeden on our next match...Only if we play good.
Because this is a Worldcup. You must deserve to clasify and you must
    keep the level of playing.

Good luck Sweeden (I hope we beat you)

Well we certainly lost a game on a penalty back in 1998
Argentina simply SUCKED managing England counter attacks, as did not push enough on the offensive.
Maybe because they couldn't handle the pace of Owen or the direct attacks from Sheringham?
Our top players (Veron, Crespo and Batistuta) didn't know where the ball was nor did they run to get the passes.
Your final attacks were definitely putting England under pressure. But sadly, for Argentina, they were being intercepted. You also resorted to the long ball game for some periods.

  14. i actually tried watching some "futbol".. that shit is so ******* boring... its so horrible, golf barely edges it out.. even if you took out kournikova, womens tennis would be better than soccer.. whats with the ball cleavage shorts & the knee high chinese school girl socks? are you guys trying to have a queerness competition with mens synchronized swimming? c'mon.. if you non-american countries could get yourself out of this soccer trance, maybe you could pull yourself out of 3rd countryness and get with it.. you'll realise, soccer is boring and it sucks, you need to bathe more often, you need to tell your women to shave their armpits, and not think its okay for your 6 year old to get wasted on pints at the pub... no wonder all you other countries are jelous and petty towards america, you know deep down inside we are better than you.. but you cant bring yourself to admit it.. the first step is admitting you have a problem, the second is dealing with it.. it all starts with ABOLISHING SOCCER WORLDWIDE. if you get seen kicking a soccer ball, its a bullet to your brain stem, simple as that. now if you were to do this, i'm sure the american government would help out your country, with things like; indoor plumbing, getting rid of the "animal" diseases (mad cow disease, foot & mouth disease, etc..), setting up a chapter of alcoholics anonymous (just because everyone is doing it doesnt make it okay to live your life in an alcoholic stuper), and finally we could slap all those silly accents from your dialect.. the choice is up to you, you 3rd country dwellers.. take the step up.. the step up to the american way.. the way you know you desire, lust to be.. even though you may not want to admit it yet.. you may even reply denying it to your core.. you may call me names and repute this claim on the highest stinky mountain in your country.. the truth will previal... and so will i..

Nobody cares if you don't like it. We like and no matter what you do we will still love it. Don't you see that it's a personal question? Do you like Nirvana? No? Somebody likes. Do you love USA? Osama hates. Is it clear to you now?

    Let's talk about football now.

France, Argentina, Italy, Portugal, Germany, England? A lot of favorite teams in danger. Will them pass through it?

    Hahahahaha !

some of these replies are bloody hilarious !!!
I especially like Jeex's who seems to be some sort of zenophobe !
all these comments from someone who comes from a country where they have several "world" (?) series in sports that only their country can play, have motor races where they get cancelled if it rains and have a game called "football" where the last piece of their body to touch the ball is their feet !!! wonderful
If you want to see a proper game where they run with the ball watch some Rugby, at least they dont wear pansy body armour.
(and more funny accents than you can shake a stick at !!!)

As to who I've watched, I've got mixed feelings about England - too much reliance on too few players....anyway come on lads :P !!
some of the other games have been fantastic - bit of a shame that there can be only one winner in the end really.
(at least the results from the french games have stopped all my french work mates from walking around singing "we are ze champions" in dodgy accents)

  20. Jeex. YOu really showed us how much better you are than us by showing your Good Ole 1st country USA education. Do you even Know what a friggin 3d country is? You don't show it, if you do. A third country is any country which gained its independence from another country after WWII.

Dumbass it has nothing to do with the quality of life. although. thanx to their prior occupation by the Western countries, they have deteriorated to some lows, not because of soccer, But because of their experiense with these colonial countries. Also there are no countries in Europe , to my knowledge, that dislike futbol. And last i checked, these Euro countries don't add up to your description of "3d worldness" they are very well off, and the only problem they seem to still have is extreme Nationalsim, NOT soccer. Basically Im tryin to say, that Jeex, You are one Dumb MuthaF****.

Read Books, use the undoubtedly better learning resources you have in "America" to fukin learn something about it. You should start out by learning that AMERICA is the name of a continent and not the name of your United States. You should be especially careful because the actual inhabitants of America who share your views are about 1 in a million. Idiota

I didn't Baldrick. I'm not saying I think only that teams are favorites. The press of the world classified them as favorites before the Cup. And I agree with you. Everybody forgot Sweden but I didn't. I remeber the 94 Cup when Brazil sweat to win one of the 2 matches.

I only ask why?? Why are the english team a favorite.. they are not that a good team. If england is a favorite then should Sweden, Nigeria too be it.
Like I said before. It's not me. But I think England is favorite as Sweden is too. Nigeria isn't anymore.

Actually those can't be the favorites... he forgot BRAZIL
I didn't forget Brazil. Brazil is not in danger like the others. I am from Brazil. Do you think I would forget my own country?

What do you think about Brazilian team? Here the press don't like it, specially the defense. I agree with them. We like the attack and hate the defense. It's very hard to win the Cup with a defense like that.

Phibes: You missed my ...of course isn't Sweden a so called "favorite". Yep a lot of favorites have problems and many groups are very even. The final group matches will be very exciting, I hope not that it becomes to even so they have to draw who will go further though...

  23. Well the press over here loves brazil...From what i've seen they're not the best team Brazil has ever had (what the hell is jininho doing in a pro team???) But they have the potential of being the best IMHO, mostly because of the attack that's true. They seem to get more cohesive as a team with every match be the end they might be alot better then they are now. Just think of Canada's mens hockey team at the last olympics, in the biggining they didn't play very well toghether, they ended up winning the goald medal.

    Damd, I'm good !

I forecast all the result today (Mexico-Ecuador 2-1, Costa Rica - Turkey 1-1, Japan - Russia 1-0). Beat that!!

Now I only hope my forecast on Sweden - Argentina will be right.

o.k. i admit it guys, england played with heart against argentina. argentina were awful.veron played as if he was on another planet! the problem for england is keeping this form game after game. they were'nt able to repeat it after beating holland at euro 96 and germany last year and i think this might be another flash in the pan result. as far as letterman is concerened football seems to be seen as a woman's game over there. oh and well done to the u.s., s. korea and japan for their great performances so far!
and finally come on ireland tomorrow! get the 2 goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
