I have an .avi with a source of 352x240, 14.985 fps. Will I use NTSC Film in my mpg conversion?

Well using TMPGEnc to convert intially to NTSC 29.97 , you could tell something was wrong with the frame rate. Most of the .avi's I have downloaded in the past were already set to 29.97. I see what your saying, but is there something I am missing in the conversion. I am still new to this and trying to understand. I assume they had the frame rate set to 14.985 to reduce space???

More likely, they either didn't know what they were doing, or their computer couldn't handle more frames than that at the time of capture. If your computer is good, you can reduce space in ways OTHER than reducing the frame rate. Reducing frame rate will make it almost like a slide show. What's the point?

Oh, also, there's nothing you can do to improve the frames on it. If you change it to 29.xx FPS, it won't make it look any better, because the frames simple aren't there. It's like converting a bad MP3 into a WAV file. You aren't going to make the WAV better sound quality than the MP3 was. Does that make sense?

OK, that makes sense! Thanks. I will just have to make sure I download better quality .avi's.....
