Is it possible to convert divx3 to divx4 or 5?

Just got an Xcard for decoding Divx files to TV only to find all my movies are in divx3 which is not supported by the card - it only supports v4 and later. Is there a way to convert the .avi's I have to divx4 or 5 format? Also why are the movies still being done in v3? Will they be changing to later versions soon?

Sorry if these are stupid questions - I'm very new to all this.

Well of couse you can covert to 4 or 5.

Well, would you tell me how or where I can find out how. I've searched this site and cannot find any mention of how to convert Divx to Divx.

you can use virtualdub

for the audio can you use directstreamcopy(no reencoding).

also checkout other sites that are more into divx such as doom9, divx-digest and more...
