I've downloaded a dvd-ripped movie and sounded fine on my pc, however when i convert it to vcd and played on my standalone dvd player the audio was poor (background music was loud and people talking was low)
I did use Vdub to extract the AC3, then headache to .wav and used toolame in tmpgenc.
Thanks in advance.

After you rip from DVD, how do you convert your files to mpg? If you use DVD2AVI & frame serve to tmpgenc, you need to check normalization under audio tab in DVD2AVI; or in Tmpgenc, you need to go to Setting, under the audio tab, & adjust your audio setting.
