  1. I have a pioneer DVD-R/RW A04 drive. It writes DVD-R discs fine but every time I try to burn to a DVD-RW it starts then reports an error burnig disc. When I try to reformat the disc it reports error whilst formatting.... what is going on??? Do I need to format the DVD-RW before using it first time? Is NERO no good at wiping DVD-RW??

    Any ideas????

  2. I don't no how to solve the problem but I will say that I have the exact same problem. I currently try with a verbatim to see if that makes a difference instead of generic disc.

  3. Do you have the latest Nero?....it solved some bugs on DVDs. I had no problem writing to DVD-RW using Nero on the Pioneer 104. You don't need to format the DVD-RW. After it was written and when I have to reuse it, I just use erase on Nero to erase the disk, take about 2 min or so and I have been able to write on it again. I am using Generic DVD-RW media

Remember to uninstall the older version of Nero before installing the new one, I heard if you don't, you will have the problem like what you were talking about.

  4. I just finished formatting a Verbatrim disc and everything went fine for the first time ever. I now believe the problem is because of using generic disc.

I'm using the same writer as you are. Nero wouldn't burn on most DVDRW's, but Ulead DVD Studio works fine, and so does PrimoDVD and DVDit PE. Perhaps it's a software issue?

I have not yet used generic RW's though. I've used the pioneer and sony branded discs. I suspect both are actually taiyo-yuden media though, since they come from the same factory. whatever... they work.

    good luck!!

  6. The 103 and 104 are very picky about the DVD-RW media you use. I know that Memorex does not work very well. Even if you get it to write to this media the write quality will stink and you might only get a couple of writes before you have to throw the disk in the trash can.
