Conversion Problems....?

Ok. Managed to fit a 2 hour movie in one CD 700MB
Allthough the Mpg file created from Avi with Tmpgenc plays fine in my computer when i put it in my DVD some AV desynch appears and sound is not smooth enough things which i dont see when i play the same mpg file in my computer.
What is going on...?

how about some fast questions:

- is the mpeg an mpeg-1 or mpeg-2?
- what is the video bitrate on that 2-hour mpeg?
- what is the audio bitrate on that 2-hour mpeg?
- what is the resolution on that 2-hour mpeg?
- did you use CBR or VBR bitrate encoding?
- what is the brand/model of your standalone DVD player?

one more question, what's the framerate?

i'm gonna guess the framerate is 23.97fps on that mpeg/vcd. if so, re-encoding it to a 29.97fps will smooth out the video playback problems. for smoothing out the audio playback, i'd downsample the audio to 44.1khz vs the 48khz.

The frame rate is 25fps (Pal)
The Video seems to be forward than sound....
Only when i play the mpg file after i burn it with Nero and watch it to my DVD

so... remux the sound with a delay in bbmpeg. make yurself a short sample and add increments of 50 - 100 ms delay to the sound then burn the samples to cd-rw and then find the one thats right and then remux the whole video using that delay. Voila!

or just try to burn your mpg as a SVCD with Nero,
this often does wonders !!!

it is likely to work because you said there are no probs playing that file with your PC !!!

mpg1 does not allow audio bitrates at 96kb/s
there could also be problems with mpg1 vbr
just burn SVCD to initiate your standalone the other way!!!

since it plays fine on your computer but not your standalone, as suggested, i'd re-encode a ten minute sample using the SVCD PAL template, burning it on cd-rw, testing it on your standalone. if all is ok, you can try unlocking the template, then tweaking just the video bitrate down, encoding a ten minute sample to see if it plays ok on your standalone. if all ok, then i'd do the whole movie. you just gotta find what works best for you and stick with it.
