Jeomite, if I can summarise your experience ...
GeForce2 MX 200 + ATI TV Wonder = hang
GeForce2 MX 200 + Pinnacle PCTV = hang
Voodoo3 + ATI TV Wonder = hang
And this is with your Asus A7A266 m/b (ALi MaGiK M1647 chipset)
As for mine, it's the following :-
Abit Siluro GF2 MX + Hauppauge WinTV GO PCI = hang
Voodoo3 + Hauppauge WinTV GO PCI = hang
My m/b is Iwill KD266, also an ALi MaGiK chipset, but model is M1649.
So can we safely say that ALi sucks?!?

Yep. The ALi MaGiK Chipset = Evil/Bad/POS/Etc. =(
I'll post my experience with the MSI K7 Master Mobo (AMD 761 Chipset) as soon I get it in. -
Roger that. Will wait eagerly for your results on your AMD 761 chipset. Let's hope it'll be a more pleasant experience.

I'm happy to report that the MSI K7 Master (AMD 761 Chipset) does WORK for my TV card (Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro). I guess it was the crappy ALi MaGiK Chipset that ruined it!
Well I must say I like the PCTV Pro more than the TV Wonder. =)

I had crashes all of a sudden... I do have a cheapo old TV card (CEI Raffles). Tried EVERYTHING in the book (drivers, reinstall, switched slots, etc.) Nothing worked...
Reinstalled windows over itself. Didn't work either. Finally, I reinstalled windows from scratch (well just renamed windows directory) and installed all my apps again. It worked, until...
Two things - (Which I have not tried to troubleshoot which one yet, since I just got a new system) Either my cheapo Kingston VGA web cam (USB based) or the HUFFYUV coded.
On my last attempt to fix the problem I removed both at the same time (ie unplugged the webcam, and uninstalled the drivers). Now the TV card works again... -

Congratulations! So we've finally determined the cause of the lockups! Not the TV card, not the AGP card, and neither the drivers but a crappy piece of shitty chipset from ALi! What a letdown!
