ps2 extracting/burning game problem

hey. I just got a ps2 a week ago and before I get a mod chip I wanted to see if I can burn ps2 games. I got all the programs you need(cdrwin, fireburner, etc) but heres my problem and ive done this to many ps2 games. I put it in my cd burner drive and it wont read it at all it makes a sort of crackeling sound and after about a minute of trying it stops. I go to bring it up and it says theres no disc in there. It coms up fine in my dvd drive but i cant extract anything from there. Here is my computer functions: HP 8766c
933 mhz
40 gig and my cd burner is
Mitsumi CR-4804TE
I know its not a great cd burner but can I fix the problem???????????

PS2 games are on DVD how are you going to fit the game onto a cdr, you cant compress it like you do a movie. If you wanted to back up a PS2 game you would need a DVD burner.
