  1. hi all

have read n read, still cant find answer.Have a JNL - 7003 model Dvd player, and it refuses to play any Star Trek movies . And now have just found another movie being "Clear and Present Danger"

I'm in OZ have set the player up for region (4) no go
have tryed the region hack for (all) no go

With the above movie best i can get is the odd chapter spitting out a couple of good frames before it goes mental with green picells.

While this isn't a prob as i can convert to VCD thanks to your tutorials and they play great.just wanted to know the story.

    is it a compatability prob.
or some sort of region dealy (RCE) or wotever

    thanks in advanced

well its possible the discs themselves are bad if you are getting pixelling.
but if you have ripped them to vcd then its unlikely.

Have you contacted the manufacturer about the problem?

I know my philips dvd player wouldn't even recognize certain discs, only about 3 of the dvds I have. They had a known problem with reading some of disneys titles.

    I'd contact the manufacturer first.

How old is the player? Some of the early units had problems with dual layer discs, well even some of the new models still do, but less likely.
also find out from the manufacturer if you have the latest firmware for the unit. Most manufacturers will upgrade you for free, at least last time I checked.

  4. hi tigerwolf

The JNL player is about 5 months old now. but noticed problem in first month . And just to check out i went to another video shop and hired the same dvd title "First Contact" no go .

but there's another reason why DVD to VCD conversion is a problem solver.

    anyways thanks for that

    cheers
