Hi,
I have two problems which I cant solve:
1. Problem:
Finally I found out which special CD-R(W)s works with my DVD-Player (Sony-725). These special CDs (Platinum CD-RWs) got a storage capacity of 650MB. So first I have to merge and then cut (with TMPGenc) the movies to burn it on CD (with Nero 5.x). Everything works fine, but when I want to watch the movie on my DVD-Player, the syncronisation of the audiotrack starts to move away in the middle of the movie. When I watch the movie on the PC it is OK, so what is this. I have tried to burn it with a lower speed, but it also happens. At least this doesn´t appear with every movie but almost every second one.
2.Problem:
It is almost the same as the 1st problem with the diffrence that the audiostream is not syncron on the point where the two files where merged, when I watch it on my computer. So this problem is already after the merging on my PC and does not have anythiong to do with my DVD-Player! But I merged already a lot of movies and there were no problems. There might be a litlle option which I forget.
Does anyone know some advice for this problems?

Maybe I can start something off and someone can continue on.
Problem 1
This may be a result of encoding the movie with the audio at a different sample frequency from the origional. Let's say your origional file is a DIVX with an audio MP3 bitrate of 128 sampled at 48kHz. You then encode your VCD MPEG with an audio sampling rate of 44.1 (and your increasing your bitrate to 224). This means that you are more or less, trying to sample more bits in less time. This may sound good, but add in the fact that your watching video...over time, this could potentially throw off the sync. It could go both ways.
The unfortunate thing is that every source file is different (especially DIVX you may download off the net).
The best you can do is attempt encoding using different settings for the audio and come up with something that works for the particular source file.
I've personally also ran into alot of problems with sync problems when going from a DIVX to SVCD. I think it is that the DIVX is a fixed source and the SVCD utilizes variable bit-rates for both video and audio.
Problem 2
If you have ever tried to cut a MPEG using TMPEG and specify the time, have you ever noticed that the audio time is slightly different from the video time? I've seen this. What could be happening here is because of this time difference, this could throw the sync off slightly.
To help out here is, if you know there is a difference in time. Take the audio and cut the extra time off the end (or begining) using an audio editor like CoolEdit. I think too CoolEdit can pad the audio file with 0's (or silence), which may help in this time shift as well.
I hope this is helpful, without getting to detailed or technical (as personally I do not know how to word it without confusing myself).

I find extracting the audio (especially MP3) from a Divx in Virtualdub to WAV then converting the video to a better format (say HUFFYUV) then merging gives a huge but clear file. This can then be reencoded with TMPGenc (or other MPEG encoder) to give a file in sync with minimal loss of quality (of course Divx is lousy quality to begin with).
While the file is in Virtualdub you can remove any nasty logo with logo removal filters (http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq.htm#logoremove). I have the most success if each item is done with a separate processing pass - it takes some time but avoids problems or disappointments like burning a bad movie.Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
I've got the same DVD player and if your looking for a CDR that works with it I found that Princo brand CDR's work.
