I'm trying to capture all my U2 music videos and create a standalone DVD player-compliant DVDR with menus using DVDit!, DVD Maestro or SpruceUP. Here is my general plan:
Capture video at 720x480 with ATI Radeon 64MB VIVO and Virtual Dub using Huffy codec. Capture sound to an uncompressed file. Use TMPEGEnc to encode the video using the template found on this page: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0165394101/TMPGEnc_Template.html
Compress uncompressed sound file to AC3 format.
I'd like to fit about 160-170 minutes onto the DVD-R. What bitrate should I set TMPGEnc for? Does anyone have any other suggestions or comments? Does this even seem like a feasible plan?

For 170mins of video ull need a bitrate of about 3000- 3300 at most.
and u might wanna soften block noise in quantise matrix tab on tmpgenc -
I should mention that I am capturing from VHS tapes and I'd like to get a DVDR that is compatible with non-VCD compliant standalone DVD players.
