  1. I encoded a .avi file to a .mpg file to make a vcd. in the vcd portion of my cd burning program, it said that file was 42 mins and 2 seconds. in windows media player, though, it said te file was 23 minutes and 30 seconds. also in the cd burning program, it sais the file was 397 megs but in the actual directory, it is 427 megs. i also tried to edit it to see if i could edit it and inside the movie editing program, it was the full movie (42:02). what will it be if i put it on a vcd?

Go with what the CD burning program said...WinMediaPlayer some times reports wrong lengths ..IE said file was 2 minutes but will play all 30 minutes... The Burner Program is also right on file size.. It uses its own method of calculating bits...So if it says a file is 400mb and that you have a 703mb disc...Its right or at very least consistant which is all it needs to be..
