  1. I Have some MPEG2 video that I'd like to join and add some simple effects such as fade-out to black. I tried to use TMPEG for joining the MPEG 2 segments but gave me an error that they were not compatible (funny as I did not change any settings between the two encoded files).

TMPEG will not do the fade-out to black from what I have seen.

Can anyone recommend some software that is capable of editing MPEG2, or do I have to go from DVD video to AVI to SVCD MPEG2? I hope not as I don't want the extra encoding step of the AVI involved.

Thanks in advance for your support.

  2. Ulead VideoStudio can edit in MPEG-2 as well as export the final file in MPEG-2. I use it to edit video captured from my dazzle DVC-II as well as from my dv camera. Its a great program and I recommend it to everybody. There is a fully functioning 30 trial on their website. http://www.ulead.com/

  3. Thanks fonoop for the reply.

Actually, I have VideoStudio, it came bundled with the firewire card. But I couldn't figure out where to import video files (only know how to capture with it). No matter, I found out that the audio between the two MPEG2 files I wanted to join were different. One was at 48kHz, the other 44.1 (hence the reason for the error in TMPEG). Once fixed, I had no problems in joining. For adding some effects to MPEG2, I downloaded Ulead's MediaStudio and I'm very impressed with it. It seems to be a little bit more user friendly over Adobe Premeire.

    Have a good one.
