  1. Hi,

    I have a 2 CD Divx of excellent quality
    and the objective is to create vcd for playing on standalone
    DVD player which plays VCD.

    CD1 = Filename.avi 733,296,646 - 1:31:57 Runtime

    VDub nfo = Frame size - 640,272 -23,976 fps
    Decompressor - DIVX 5.0.2 codec

    Cd2 = Filename.avi 731,994,112 - 1:25:22 Runtime

    Followed the excellent tutorial at

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm

    for CD1 and mpg file produced = 961,778,104 = too large for 74 min cd

    Can anyone point me to tutorial for this example as I
    guess somehow part of cd1 = vcd 1, remainder cd1+partcd2= vcd2, remainder cd2 = vcd3

    Or am I on the wrong track.

    Thanks

    You are on the wrong track, but all the info you need is on this site. First, join both avis using virtualdub. Extract the audio as an uncompressed wav using Virtualdub. It will be be big (~2GB!) Then, having chosen a template to correspond to the framerate, NTSC(film) in this case, use TMPGenc's batch list facility to create 3 VCD mpgs. Then burn to VCD with Nero or VCDEasy. Your movie is nearly 3 hours, so you cannot fit on less than 3 x 74 min CDs.

    You could use what you already have, and produce a second mpg, join these and split into 3 using TMPGenc. However, if you haven't used NTSC(film) template, I'd start again. 8)

  5. Start again sounds good, so I'm off to try and join the 2 files
    as step 1.

    Speed of help is great, thanks a lot.

  6. Using VirtualDub to join the 2 avi's results in error when selecting
    2nd avi : audio streams at different bitrates

    Any suggestions to overcome this problem?

    In which case you will have to deal with each DivX in turn. Convert to mpg, and join mpgs (with TMPGenc), then split into 3. It's a little more complicated than splitting avis with Virtualdub, but not much. 8) You'll find guides to this also on the site.

  8. Success,

    As you said, created the 2nd mpeg via vdub
    Joined the 2 mpegs with TMPenc
    Split to 3 in TMPenc (after I figured it out)

    Burned and test played on DVD standalone

    Many thanks for the help
