  1. Hi,

all I'm trying is to convert SVCDs into VCDs since my player won't play anything else.

I followed the DVD2AVI/TMPGEnc guide on this website.

DVD2AVI will, just like described in the guide, create a .d2v project file and a .mpa audio file from the SVCDs mpg file.

I can play the resulting .mpa audio file fine in media player or Winamp, its a 224kbps/48khz/stereo stream mpg1-layer2.
The file is named "mymovie MPA T01 DELAY 0ms.mpa".

However, TMPGEnc accepts the .d2v file from the DVD2AVI project as video source, but I won't accept the .mpa file as audio source.
It gives an error box "....cannot open file or unsupported type.".

The strange thing is that .mpa files are not even part of the file filter in the "Browse" dialog for audio files. I have to select "All files (*.*)" as filter.

That looks to me as if TMPGEnc doesn't support those files at all, but the guides say it does.

So do I need some additional codec ? I have installed the vfapi one to open the .d2v project file.

    Thanks alot,

    Watz

    btw: I was using TMPGEnc 2.54.37.135 and DVD2AVI 1.76

I think I have seen this mentioned before here. I have managed with mpa, and also had to select the all files filter, and TMPGenc *wiped its feet* before opening. IIRC the problem is solved by altering the priority in Environmental setting>>VFAPI plugin. Presumably its the Direct show multimedia file reader. Mine is set to -1, but if yours is the same, increase this to a +ve number.

  3. Thanks for the tip, it works. How could I ever figure this out.

But the drawback is that now it refuses to take the .d2v project file with the same error message !
It took the file before so I guess I have to play around more with these priorities.
