  1. hello, I'am trying to add subtitles to an mpg file and then encode it to a VCD but there is a problem. First of all I've read all the guides here. I'm loading the mpg file from Virtual Dub and then the textsub filter. Then I'm starting the frameserv saving a vdr or vdr.avi file. I'm opening Tmpg encoder and when I'm trying to load the .vdr or vdr.avi file it tells me that this file type is not supported. I've disabled the Direct show multimedia file reader but still the same problem .Can someone help me please? Sorry for my bad english.

  2. Do not use VD 1.10.0. There is bugs in frameserving. Use VC 1.9.0

  4. Before starting frame server you have to install handler. see this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm

  5. I have no problem frameserving from VD 1.4.10 to TMPGEnc 2.54

I had problems sometime back and found a fix on the net: under the TMPG folder, delete the settings files, they are called CurrentCfg.tpr and TMPGEnc.ini (don t worry, they will be regenerated next time TMPGEnc starts). Install the Virtual Dub handler again, restart TMPGEnc.

In TMPGEnc, there is no need to disable anything. For me, I actually promoted the DirectShow filters and make sure to call the handler file filename.avi and not filename.vdr. Works like an absolute charm.
