ok if i use an avi source with tmpgenc, how do i set it to the vbr 2 pass setting? someone mentioned that you can make the quality alot better on svcd's if you change that but i never seen that so please help!!

1. Make sure you have save an uncompressed wav for the audio.
2. Load the SVCD template which corresponds to the framerate of the avi.
3. In Video>Rate control mode select 2-pass VBR.
The rest is optional, but I would recommend setting the minimum to 755 and the max to 2496 and the average to 800 (for now). And enable padding. Then save this template for future use. Next run the Project wizard which has an excellent bitrate calculator, and you can then adjust the average bitrate to fit to 2 or 3 CDs almost exactly.
Be mindful, though, that 2-pass VBR takes a loooong time. 8)
