  1. Using this chain:
    Xmpeg 4.2 > Video Server Plugin 0.93 (aviwrapper mode) > Tmpeg 2.54a
    to encode in two-pass vbr,
    every time I try to compress a whole movie (and also reducing its length by a couple of minutes, cutting part of its end titles), at the end of the First Pass the Video Server Plugin stops and gives an error message like "error during get frame call"
    The strange thing is that if I try with a brief sequence (for example, 30 sec), everything goes fine... The error happens only with the whole movie conversion (and after ~6 hrs spent!)

    Please, notice that in Tmpeg I see what should be the first/last frame encoded and it is from the end titles instead from the beginning of the movie.
    Video Server Plugin options:
    No Time Out;
    Random Access - would it help?

    Last note, I'm using WinXP with 640 Mb Ram and no paging file (could it be that?)

    Thanks in advance for any suggestions and excuse me for the long post

  2. i understand the reasons for not wanting a paging file(or using a small fixed one), but it is a bad idea for video frameserving. i know for a fact you would still run out of memory before finishing a longish project if vfapi were involved. i'm not sure of the memory requirements for the video server plugin, but i recommend setting your paging file to automatic before looking elsewhere

  3. Sigh!
    Just finished another useless attempt (over 6 hrs lost), with a paging file this time...
    Now I've disabled all plugins in Environmental setting-VFAPI plug-in, except AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader (brief 2-pass conversions keep working);
    Tomorrow I'll start once again with a full conversion and see what happens
    Bye

  4. Now I think the problem is within the Video Server Plugin;
    If you have time, you might read what made me think so...

    I was at my pc when the first pass was concluded;
    after an intense activity by the hard disk (approx. 3 minutes), the video server plugin disappeared (please, note that there was no time out enabled).
    That caused Tmpeg blame for the IPCserver down...
    Xmpeg refused to show itself from the application bar and I was forced to close it by the Task Manager; as a consequence, it did come up > it was the Video Server hanging on the background...
    I restarted it and forced Tmpeg to accept the streaming for the 2nd pass...
    Who knows what will come out, after the next 6 hrs
