I have just purchased a laptop with a firewire port. I intend buying a digital camcorder to make use of this port. I`ve just been reading on this forum that certain models of camcorder will enable you to pass thru an analogue signal and capture via firewire.
My question is, at what resolution/framerate can you capture the converted analogue signal, are you stuck with the standard dv resolution or can you decrease resolution/framerate to decrease file sze?
cheers.
ps whats the cheapest (uk) pal dv cam that allows you to the passthru.

The camera converts the Analog signal into standard DV format.
It is a HARDWARE capture so there are no adjustments that you can make. -
ok Thanks.
BTW what is the resolution of dv , and what format is it in when passed thru the firewire?
Cheers
