  1. Sorry, but, Adobe Premier is an over priced piece of junk. It's also oudated technology that barely works with native DV. I've NEVER been able to use this program successfully...lots of freezes and lost work. If you're serious about NLEditting on a PC, check out Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video 3.

Premiere has work great for me!! I think it's your computer that makes it stink for you But I'll try the editor you suggest and see what it is..!

  3. Sorry Helmut, but, I've been using Premier since V4.0 on more computers than you can imagine. It's ALWAYS been difficult, balky and unreliable. I know there are people who swear by it, but, I can't imagine why. The latest version FORCES you to use the Micro$oft DV codec, which is not one of the best available. See Mainconcept.com

Hmm I'm not in to the codecs, but just for editing I think it's realy good. I have use it on 3 computers and has work on every single one of them.

I'm looking for Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video 3 right now, will try it and see if it is as good as you think.

  5. Of particular interest in VV3....
1-a compositing and editting engine, simpler, but similar to Adobe After Effects
2-an audio editting module that's practically an equivalent to SF's Sound Forge...check out the audio compressor, EQ and noise gate
3-the ability to choose your codec...VV3 DV codec is as good as the Canopus codec but works on any computer
4-Real time preview of transitions and effects....the only waiting is for renders to tape.
