In general, are the low cost no-name blank dvd-r and dvd-rw media any good and really available for prices around $1.50 for
a "standard" 2 hour dvd or is there a catch such as the media usually have bad spots or the websites that advertise those
prices don't actually sell for them?
Since brand name media seem to sell for about $5-$7, a lot more,
I'm wondering if the low cost media are a really good deal or are
instead too good to be true.
Thank you very, very much for any info.

My opinion is this:
Compatability problems are as much a result of the burning and authoring programs as the media.
I've had good results with generic media and poor results with Pioneer and Apple media, and vice versa.
I've had a disc play fine on one DVD player, and refuse to play on another player of the same model!
All you can really do is buy a few and see what works 4 U.
