  1. Hi,

I own a Thomson VCD player. I've used

    1. TMPGEnc to convert my AVI file to MPG format
    2. Nero to burn the converted MPG file to VCD format

using a CD-RW (as many in the forum claim that CD-R might give problems). During the 2 processes listed above, no problems were encountered. However, my VCD player can't seem to read the CD-RW.

I also tried using a workable conventional VCD and converted the DAT file to MPG before burning it in the CD-RW with Nero. It also failed.

Afterwhich, I switched software by using VCDEasy. Upon installation, I was given a 'CD writer not found or problem with ATAPI drivers' error. I updated the ASPI drivers but to no avail. I couldn't understand why I receive this error as Nero works fine.

    Pls advise. Thanks.

P.S. I've tried using several CD-RWs. My comp sys is P3 450 MHz, Acer 8x4x32 CD-writer and running on WinXP pro OS.

  3. @ deki20: don't hijack other people's threads. Post your question in a separate thread.

@ sevenX, if your player is truly a stand-alone VCD player (as opposed to a DVD player), the problem is because you are using CD-RW media. VCD players are designed around a CD-ROM drive and most CD-ROM drives simply cannot read CD-RW.

I suggest that you try CD-R media.
