    hey,
I am switching to win2k this weekend from win98SE. I have a Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro and I want to avoid pinnacle drivers because in my opinion they aren't too great. So what i need is your take on the universal drivers from iuLabs and the ones from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/.

who has the drivers and how do you like them, do they function like they should? any side affects that you have noticed and what programs are you using to capture with? thanks for your time.

    hey guys,
i know i'm going agaisnt the no bumping post rule but but i
d really like to have an answer. which driver for win2k works better with iuvcr the one for iulabs or from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

my capture card is a pinnacle studio pctv pro and both drivers support this card. what i wanna know is will there be a difference in quality or preformance between these drivers. i always see the ones at sourceforge recommended so i am leaning towards them but i think that the drivers from iulabs might be optimized for iuvcr(thats what i would do if i programmed them). anyway, thanks for your time.

  5. I'm using W2K and have a WinTV Go PCI card, with latest Hauppauge drivers.
I've tried a couple of times to use the Brooktree drivers from Sourceforge but had 0% success.
The driver setup detected everything and all seemed OK - the installation completed and i rebooted but then my WinTV wouldn't work with any applications.
I reinstalled the Hauppauge drivers and use them still.
I might try getting the Sourceforge drivers to work when i've got the patience, but i've found the Hauppauge drivers to be perfectly functional anyway.

    Martin.

    zedolfblack,
thanks but i dont have a hauppauge card and i think we've all learned around here that pinnacle drivers are pretty damn bad, especially the WDM ones. The VFW aren't too bad but they arent good either. come on everyone, i know some of you use these drivers

  8. That would make for an interesting experiment! Has anyone tried the WinTV drivers on the PCTV pro?!
Probably as dangerous as it'd pointless, but you never know!
If anyone has tried it tell us the results!!

You might have fun chasing IRQ conflicts when you switch to win2000. Try moving the card to different PCI slots if you do. Or you will have to install 2000 as a "standard PC". If you need to install as "standard PC" to avoid conflicts and don't know how, then come back and ask. I'll have to look up the links to the procedure
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

    village idiot,
so far i have had no irq problems, i was very very careful when installing my cards, it did put a bunch of things on the same irq but it didnt put my capture card on that irq, it got its own so yes, i guess i am lucky.
