  1. Hey everyone... I've been capturing for a year and never really had too much of a problem. Last week I moved to my new apartment. I've been a little afraid of unhooking everything, in fear that things wouldn't work right when I hooked them back up. Well my fears have come true.

Okay, here's the deal. I have an All In Wonder ATI card. I capture through Audio Video cards put in the back of my computer. I capture from my DVD player (please don't give me messages about capturing from a DVD player versus ripping), and now I get video but no audio. All the cables are plugged in correctly, I've triple checked myself. I thought it might be the audio cables, so I switched them out. No luck. So I thought it might be the DVD, tried a different one. No luck. I thought the DVD player might be messed up, but when hooked up to the TV, the same DVD plays sound perfectly. So I thought it might be the speakers. But all the movies I've previously captured, games, and everything else all have sound. So I thought it might be that I'm just not hearing sound when I capture (in AVI_IO and VirtualDub both I'm getting no sound), so I captured a clip and tried playing it back. No sound.

I'm getting desperate. Only other thing I can think of is that I had a network card that when uninstalled, messed with my ATI settings. The network card has since been removed, and everything else with the ATI card seems to be working correct. I'm especially perplexed that the video would capture but the audio in the same cables will not capture.

When I turn on the ATI TV card, no signal.

I just had a thought, I need to make sure the cable connecting the sound card to the video card is still in place. Hopefully that'll be the problem, but if anyone else has any other suggestions besides reinstalling everything, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!

Try going to sound options on the bottom taskbar. select properties and make sure recording is checked. close the window and a volume bar for line in should appear. make sure the volume is set at a reasonable level and that the box at the botton of the volume control is checked. If i can't get audio when i capture this is how i get it back.

  3. Thanks boss, I had tried that with no luck. I went home for lunch, turns out the cable connecting the audio and video cards wasn't connected. When I moved, I guess I pulled all the cables out and forgot to plug that one back in. Oh thank god I fixed it. Thanks anyways for helping.
