  1. I am using dvd2avi and TMPGEnc. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of creating a DVD with the aspect ratio set properly. In other words when the disc is inserted in the machine it auto selects widescreen instead of showing a letterbox picture that you manually set to 16:9 on the TV. It works ok using REMpeg2 but the quality is not as good as TMPGEnc.

  2. if you want your re-encoded dvd rip to be the same aspect ratio as the original dvd, then in TMPGenc, go into Settings, then the Advanced tab, change the 'Video Arrage Method' to 'Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)'

  3. Still doesn't seem to work. If you drag a vob into power dvd it will open up the window in a widescreen format. If you drag an mpeg file the same it opens in a square window with borders top and bottom. The same applies on a tv screen.

  4. You cannot specify aspect ratio with TMPGENC.
Aspect ratio is defined in the .ifo file of the DVD.
To get correct aspect ratio, you must use a DVD authoring tool like MyDVD.

If you want to reduce a DVD size and keep aspect Ratio, AC3 sound and chapter, you'd better use Smartripper, Rempeg2 and IFOedit.
