I was told when converting avi file to mpg file, video card plays the most important part in terms of speed(time). What types of video card will you guys out there recommend that will perform with decent speed without costing an arm? Is there such thing as a "built-in mpg converter chip" in a video card? Will any video card below $100 (Geforce II MX400 64M) do the work? What's the ideal speed(time) when converting 1 min of movie from avi to mpg? Anyone?

Processor speed determines video encoding speed, also you should have over 256mb ram. The video card is used for games, etc.
