  1. I have 3 avi files which I am trying to convert to mpg. I can convert two with no problem using TMPGEnc 12a. The third will produce an mpg file with no sound. If I try to split the audio from the video using Virtual Dub and then convert, the audio and video go out of sync. Here are the properties of the three files and from that perhaps someone can tell me why the third one is causing me problems (if it helps, the third one is an avi file ripped from a DVD while the other two are not).

    FIle 1
    Audio: MPEG Layer-3,95Kbits/sec, 44,100 Hz
    Video: 352x236, 24 Bits, 25 fps, DIVXMPG4V3

    File 2
    Audio: MPEG Layer-3,39Kbits/sec, 22,050 Hz
    Video: 352X288, 24 Bits, 25 fps, MS-MPEG4V3

    File 3 (problem file)
    Audio: MPEG Layer-3,132Kbits/sec, 48,000 Hz
    Video: 640X272, 24 Bits, 25 fps, DIVXMPG4V3

I am new to this so if you get too technical it will go way, way over my head. I don't even know what half the stuff up there means. Hopefully, all I have to do is change some settings in TMPGEnc.

Many thanks to all who respond.

  2. One more thing I forgot to mention. When I attempted to split the audio and video using Virtual Dub, I got the following error message after it was complete:

File 64: The parameter is incorrect

What does that mean and could that be the cause of my sync problem?

    Thanks, again.
