  1. I've already searched the forums and found nothing, so unless I used the wrong search terms, you can start by ruling that out.

I just got a new Sony DCR-TRV25 DV camera. I also got a firewire cable and card. I've successfully connected the camera to the computer and imported video before, but recently I haven't had as much luck.

For some reason, the computer will recognize when I press play and stop on the camera, and the camera will recognize when I press play and stop on the computer, but the computer will not show the video being played on the camcorder. I've tried Premiere, Windows Movie Maker, Ulead Mediastudio, and Vegas Video...all that shows up in the preview window of each program is black.

What's wrong here? Why has it worked before but stopped working?

I had that problem before, then I realized the lens cap was still on.

  3. The weird part is that the problem is in VCR mode and camera mode. And yes, the lens cap IS off.

    Any other suggestions?

  4. hey i got sony trv-320 digital 8 camera, premiere 6.0 and i had the same problem as you. i can control stop and start buttons but nothing shows up on the preview screen and i can't capture anything only to get capture driver does not exist sign.
well i wouldn't consider myself too much computer literate but i did manage to build my own computer. but my advice is to just get a new card. i've tried everything i could, but never could get the thing to work. after a month of struggle i just bought a texas instrument firewire card and it worked as simple as... a floppy drive. it just worked. period.
