  1. Help! I just purchased the JVC DVM96U MiniDV Camcorder and I'm not happy with it, but the website I ordered I just read has an all sales are final policy.

I believe I am one of few that have purchased this, as many retailers are still not carrying this item. Unfortunately, because of this, I have not been able to read any type of review for this camcorder.

First of all, holding the camcorder is awkward. It is not like a Sony Handycam where it fits like a glove, but you have to wrap your pinky and ring finger around a finger grip and your middle finger and pointer finger hold the front panel under the lens, making sure they are not obstructing the flash and the sensor below the lens.

Second, the zoom function is wrapped around the rec/stop button. Which means to zoom in you hold the lever and pull it clockwise and to zoom out you have to hold the lever and pull it counter-clockwise. This sucks because it helps contribute to camera jitter.

Last, and most important gripe, is that I just found out from the manual (but never said anywhere else) that you cannot record analog to the MiniDv...it is just A/V out and DV in/out. This sucks! I would've loved to transfer my 8mm film, VHS tapes, and some TV footage onto MiniDV.

What can I do with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Do I have a legit gripe? If it weren't for those three things above I would seriously be happy. I knew I should have waited to purchase it. Please help me out. The eCost.com return policy sucks. I wish I researched it even more than two months. I guess I was just tired of looking but any suggestions you guys may have on how to get my refund or do something with this I will appreciate it very much. I wish I just went with the Sony PC9 but a lot of places don't carry it anymore and the ones that do are the shady online retailers from NY.

    Thanks a bunch!

    You got ripped.

I'd try E-bay, and just say it's "new condition", "in box", "with instructions". Things like that.

Don't tell people you don't like it, that's a sales no-no. Good luck.
