I'd like to put my main capture drive into a firewire box and be able to move it between different computers. Before I remove it from my main computer, I was curious if you can capture DV and write to a firewire hard disk at the same time. Any experience?

How about is anyone capturing to a firewire hard drive? Does it matter if you use a 5,400 vs 7,200rpm ?

Yes, I only capture DV and write to firewire hard drive (7200rpm) in my notebook. It work great and without drop any frame.
