  1. What dvd authoring programs can work with vob.

    I just wish to create acustom menu for dvdr rips and don't wish to have to demux the vobs to add the main movie.

    Sorry, there aren't any. The information required to play the .VOBs are contained in the .IFO of the same title (ie, VTS_02_X.VOB and VTS_02_0.IFO), and this is created when a DVD is "authored". You would be better off just keeping the original menu (with some navigation modifications).

  3. Technically any DVD authoring program will work with VOBs. I do it all the time. Here is the process:

    Use ‘SmartRipper’ to rip the DVD with (this is the import part) only one audio stream and no subtitles. Then rename all ‘.VOB’ files to ‘.Mpg’. You should now be able to import the MPG files into your DVD authoring program. I can confirm that this has worked in SpruceUp and DVDit PE.

    Please note: Depending on what authoring program you use you may lose 5.1 audio.
