  1. Hi all,

Sorry for the newbie question: I've got a movie that I downloaded thats in .avi format. I can view it on my computer with win media player.

I want to burn it on a CD-R to watch it on my DVD player. I used Nero to encode it and burn it in VCD(mpeg1) format. It works in my brand new dvd player(which supports CD-r, and MP3 playing)but not in any of the kids dvd players (which are all less than one year old but do not support cd-r or mp3 formats).

I was told to use nero to encode and burn the .avi to a SVCD and that would solve my problem. Well it does not work in the kids nor mine nor on my computer?????

Any ideas on what is going wrong and/or how I can convert a .avi file into something that will play on DVD players.

Do I have to get a DVD recorder for this to work or is there a way just to use Nero and my CD-r burner?

    Thanks

It seems that the problem is in your media. What CD-R brand did you use? Or did you use a CD-RW? Some DVD players will not play CD-RW media.

You may want to re-burn your mpeg file again with VCDEasy. Get it at www.vcdeasy.org

  4. I think you answered your own question
but not in any of the kids dvd players (which are all less than one year old but do not support cd-r or mp3 formats).
a lot of people say don't use nero to encode it ends up causing problems.

but if you still want to try tomake vcds use this guide instead

    Hope this helps
