I have a DivX (.avi Format) movie that I want to convert to either VCD or SVCD. I converted a few minutes of each format and noticed that SVCD has better quality, although not a lot (it's hard to determine whether the difference is large because I'm not able to watch both side-by-side).
Here are the source's information:
Image:
Width = 720 pixels
Height = 480 pixels
Audio:
Duration = 0:50:06
Bit Rate = 192kbps
Audio format = MPEG Layer-3
Video:
Frame rate = 29 frames/second
Data rate = 272kbps
Video sample size = 24 bit
Video compression = DivX codec
How's the quality of the source? Is 272kbps (video) and 192kbps (audio) too crappy for SVCD? At what bit/data rate would I be saying "the quality of the source is good enough for me to convert it to SVCD?" I'm a newbie at this, so any information will be helpful. Thanks!
