  1. Hi guys I have encoded an avi to mpeg using tmpgenc which program is best to burn it to a vcd. I have used nero in the past but this seems to want to encode it again before it burns.Cheers for any help. :P

  2. Nero complains alot about VCD/SVCD compliance. Turn off standard compliance and proceed to burn. If this still doesn't work, consider re-encoding the MPG file.

  3. If nero is giving a compliance error, this means that the mpeg you have created is not a standard VCD or SVCD. If you burn it you will be creating either an XVCD or XSVCD, check that your player supports these formats. If you want a standard VCD or SVCD use the templates that come with TMPGEnc.

    Cooky,

For VCD, its MPEG-1, 352x240 (NTSC), 1150k bitrate and either 29.97 or 23.97 (NTSC Film) frames per second with 224k audio, fairly strict compliance. Check the 'What Is' section to the left for more specifics and for info on SVCD which is MPEG-2 and more flexible in the other settings.

As an earlier poster said, Nero will only complain about not being compliant if you don't have a compliant video file. Now if your doing this on purpose, then you're all set and simply need to tell Nero to ignore the compliance when prompted.

My guess is that you chose the wrong template in TMPGenc if you're looking for VCD compliant files. I do it myself when I'm not paying attention. Be sure to use the correct templete and Nero won't complain at all. If I remember right, Nero has 4 or 5 different 'VCD' templates, simply choose the right one (NTSC or PAL) for your needs.

If your using the MPEG tools and doing a demux/remux or the Merge/Cut tools, be sure to choose the correct setting here as well or TMPGenc will render the resulting video non-compliant, and therefore, the same message when trying to burn in Nero. Don't use the default MPEG-1 that comes up. Use the 'MPEG-1 Video CD' setting and once again you should be just fine with Nero.
    Have a good one,
