Hi there, I am just learning about authoring DVD's and wondered about having a go at creating 5.1 channel ac3 audio.
Is there a piece of software that allows you to do this ? like pan around a sound or something and then create the file as a .ac3 track ready to burn?
thanks for any help in advance

Sonic Foundry's soft encode 1.0 can convert wav -> ac3 (I don't think this software is availible any more.) DVDit PE 2.5 can convert PCM audio (.wav file) to ac3. Also Sonic Scenarist comes with an ac3 encoder (the total software package is $22000.) I think your best bet is using dvdit PE's ac3 encoding (I think the software runs about $500.) There are no freeware encoders.
