Hey guys, I ran across this program on www.videotools.net. Its called Link2 and it allows you to use cce in Xp. As most of you all know Xp for some reason doesn't like cce. For me I am using 2.50 SP and no matter what I have tried it always crashes when trying to load anything. Well This programs works for what ever reason. All you need to do when you framserve through VirtualDub is take the vdr file and load it into this link2 program. Click the wrap button and it creates and small avi file. You load this avi file into cce with the framserver still running and cce works like a charm.

Any of you experts care to look into this program and explain as to why this works. The only downside of this program is it is not freeware, but the author does not cripple any functions. It would be nice to know if anything else might work.

Many people reported, that CCE SP workes just fine with WinXP.
Link2 is actually designed to wrap Avisynth scripts, so you can use Avisynth and CCE SP 2.6x. However, I am glad, that you found a workaround.

Can you explain that a little more. You said that link2 is used to wrap avisynth scripts. So I assume in lamans terms this just takes a script and makes it into a fake avi that is used as a gateway between virtualdub "in my case" and allows it to be run through cce. If this is the case, then obviously the wrapped avi has something additional being added that Virtualdub is not providing initially to cce.

I have tried just using vdub and cce in xp. I change compatabilty with cce to 98, 95, and 2000. This doesn't resolve my issue. It still causes cce to crash. Any of you that use cce in Xp without any problems have any suggestions. I don't mind using link2, but its just another program to have to deal with.

Yes, I forgot, that it is also a workaround frameserve from VD to CCE SP 2.6x. But since VD filters work with RGB colors anyway, there wont be any speed advantage. The old method is to convert a *.vdr with VFAPI (another wrapper). Link2 support YUY2 as well.

Back to lamans terms. Avisynth is a video editor and frameserver similar to VirtualDub but without a GUI but script based.
Although one can frameserve from VD to Avisynth or vice versa, I don't know, why anyone would do that.

I am not a XP user, but since this topic came up several times and again and again people reported, that they are able to frameserve with VD to CCE SP 2.50 in XP, I guess it is possible.

First I recommend to read the folloing topics:
