Hey all,
I need a VCD authoring program which will create autoplay VCDs with navigational menus. I've heard there is VCD authoring software out there somewhere which can actually embed a player on the disc for you, so that you can send the disc it halfway around the planet and the person on the receiving end won't have any hassles playing it.
I've checked out the Roxio website and WinOnCD 5.0 SEEMS to have this feature (from what I can gather), but it's hard to tell from the brief amount of information provided on the features page. Can anyone help?

dont know if you're looking for that, but you can actually put any files in the /EXTRA directory of your vcd. nero can be used, or vcdimager (i guess). although no vcd will 'autoplay' unless you have already a player with such a feature installed.
hope this helps

Yes i can verify that WinOnCD does infact embed a vcd player program onto all VCD's created with the program and you can make menus with it too. I have 3.8 power edition, have not tried 5.0 and i can't remember if it will actually autoplay the cd's. You could just create a small autorun.inf file sayin to load the vcd player.
eg:
[autorun]
OPEN="name of vcdplayer.exe" (exclude ""'s)
however you will still need to then open the video file through that programmost ppl say somethin smart or profound here.......... I won't -
Do a search on this forum for autoplay VCD, you can include a player on the disc you burn such as ion-vcd, and get it to autoplay when the disc is inserted.

Chaoji, A good tip maybe : that player that comes with WinOnCD is bad. If you realy want to include a player, include the player of 'powerDVD' or something or search on the Net for a standalone freeware player.
If you would use VCDwizard, you'll be able to generate (S)VCD's with an ISO9660 track that can hold anything (all kind directory names you like, even files in the root and even directory's with sub-directory's - upon a maximum of 8 directory's deep). -
Indeed WinonCD does embed a player into its VCDs, I use version 5.0 and it does so too.
Somehow mine does not autoplay (don t see a autorun on the root menu actually, maybe there s a setting somewhere in WinonCD settings that I have not enabled??). But clicking on the player icon launches the VCD and the player is a very nifty little thing.
Doesn t bother me much since I play the VCDs on a stand-alone player, but it s pretty cool nonetheless.
