It seems REALLY EASY to use and has many optional formats to capture in. I have been using it and doing the DV-AVI 25mbps.
I have found that capturing a 45min DV video makes a 20 GIG AVI. Does this sound bout right? I thouht it was HI for DV to AVI.
hmm
any one else using this program.

XP Movie Maker - in a word - JUNK
Max res. In "Hi Quality" of all things is 320*240 - You are much better off using VirtualDub (requires a Dv codec to import)
Somebody else has opinions ..

DV = approx 3.7 Mb/sec = 222 Mb a minute = just under 10 Gigs for 45 minutes
Your numbers are off. -
For pure 'capture' of DV, Windows XP movie maker works fine. Just select the relevant format (NTSC or PAL DV) and hit go. This is not a capture in the normal sense, but a copy of digital data from your tape to your HD.
But holistic is right with the numbers and file sizes tho, you must be selecting the wrong format.
