Anyone that can help please do I beg you. Heres my problem. I convert my downloaded DVD Rips that are avis with TMPenc. I dont change any settings I just load the correct template and set to highest quality then I convert. Then I cut the resulting mpeg in half using TMPenc. I then burn each half of the movie with Nero (newest version) Now once my VCD is done it runs fine on my computer and fine on some of my friends DVD players. But on my Apex 1500 it looks find then every once in a while the video slows down from teh audio then speeds back up within 10 or 20 secs usually and then they are in sync again. Some movies seem to do it more than others like 10 times a movie and some only do it once or twice but for longer. Every movie has did this though on my player. My question is what can I do to fix this other than buy a new DVD player. Mine is suppose to be great for VCDs. How do I fix this. Also why are VCD players different. Why would my friends play them fine and in sync and mine play them find except for maybe 19% of the movie? Thanks.

apex dvd players are cheap for a reason...they have horrible defect rates (some say as high as 1 in 10)...but anywayz, if the VCD works on your comp and your friend's dvd players, then it could be a problem w/ apex recognizing the cd-r brand/media u r using
also, look in the dvd players compatibility guide and see how high of a bitrate your player supports (if you made a standard VCD 2.0, bitrate shouldn't matter cuz it's set to 1150 kbit/s, anything different would be xVCD and u need to check how high of a bitrate your dvd player supports xVCD)

I have an Apex 1500 also. Actually this problem happens with most Apex players and VCDs. I even have a couple of factory VCDs that have the same problem on the Apex. However, the ones I make myself tend to be worse. I did have some success demux/remuxing in TMPGenc....closer to the factory VCDs anyway. Your best bet with the Apex is an SVCD, they play perfectly, but use more CDs in most cases
