    HI^^ I have a 7XXMB file and i wanna burn it into a 800MB cd-r.
I've tried to burn it with nero normally, it said that there's not enough room in the medium.
    Now, here's my problems:
Do i have to use some other burning programs to do that?
Does it help if i select the overburn option before i burn it?
If i do so, what kinda bad effects i would get?

thank you so much for answering my questions!!!

PS: plz gimmie any advice if u think it would help me out....thx :D

  2. Is this movie in avi format and your trying to convert it to mpg using Nero?
We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked?

  3. no...it's actually a dat file.

and i think it doesn't really matter what format it is, right?

  4. Try to overburn using Nero maybe - go to file - preferences - expert features (on version 5.5.8.2)

  6. Of course itīs safe, and itīs the only way to burn 800 MB discs. Select in preferences the "Overburn" and "Disc at Once" at set it up to 80 - 82 min.
This will be harmless. There are 100 Min. discs also, but not every cdburner can fill them up. Now, if you try to go farther than that, you could be risking your laserīs calibration and servos.

In another topic, why would you like to burn a .dat file directly as a data cd? you have to build your vcd structure properly first. Yo have to tell the software you are going to burn a videocd compliant CD, so it builds the structure for you.
Now drag your .dat into a track.
If the program doesnīt let you actualy use it, youīll have to reencode it first with, maybe... TMPGenc. Just load the proper settings for a vcd mpg stream and import it to Nero again.
Nero will determine if the mpg stream is good enough for a vcd and it will tell it to you.
In this industry, Sadly, The future was yesterday.
