  1. I'm tryin to capture stuff from a vhs tape, and or directv but I can't find the right channel on my tuner to get the thing going, lol... My Ulead channels are also jacked up, they are off by a few channels. I'm talking about ULead VideoStudio6. Anyone got any advice?

  2. Use the line-in on your capture card and software rather than the tuner. Directv receivers have s-video output; so capture using that if your capture card supports s-video. You will probably have to use composite video with your VCR unless you have a SVHS or Hi8 VCR with s-video outputs.

  3. Damn, oh well... My cap. card doesn't have the DV stuff to go in. I guess I'll have to stick with MMC.

  4. The VCR(s) and DirecTV reciever I have both have RF out. You can receive the signal by setting channel on your tuner to match the channel you select, channel 3 or 4, on the back of either unit. Both my units are a few years old and maybe the new units do not have rf out. Remember the quality of the video will be poor at best and the audio will be monaural.

  5. My new DTV receiver (DTivo) has RF out, S-Video out and two composite video outputs in addition to stereo audio and 5.1 DD audio output. I use the S-Video output when capturing to my Dazzle DVC and Matrox Marvel G400-TV.

    S-Video = best
    Composite = good
    RF = fair

    You should be able to capture the signal from one of these outputs.
