  1. good morning.

I have taken a lot of vcd movies and slip them in 1/2 using TMPGenc, but I have tried numerous times to split a SVCD movie ( mpg ) with TMPGenc, and each time I do, TMPgenc just shuts down.

Am I doing something wrong ? or am I using the wrong program ?

    Thanks much ,

    Cheryl-Anne.

    Hi there,

are you sure that TMPGEnc shuts down?
It can take a lot of time to split a movie in Mpge2 format.

I have an Athlon 1.4 Gigaherz, and splitting a SVCD can take 5 minutes. So if TMPGEnc "hangs", just let it be for a few minutes, and then return. Maybe your movie has been split by then.

  3. Hi Dutchman,

When I attempt to "edit" the SVCD mpg it will then just come up with an error, - the program shuts down and does an "illegal activity" .

So you are saying this is not normal, huh ?

Gee, I hope I can figure it out, thank you for your help

  4. How are you trying to split in tmpg? The "merge and cut" sucks for splitting but works great for merging. I always use the "source range" for splitting and have never had any problems

    click on file
    click mpeg tools
    click advanced
now put a check in the box by "source range"
    now double click "sorce range"
from here you can cut your vid by using start and end points

Its possible the trial period is over for the mpeg2 use (encode & edit). Also it sometime helps to hit the play button and let the stream play for a few seconds before trying to edit. I find that I have to manually enter in the end times as selecting it on the slide bar will not work for me on mpeg 2
