  1. hi all,
To display the audio spectrum of the first track I click switch normalize, does this affect the audio or just the display?

  2. The Normalize switch on an event does change the audio. In Vegas it raises that event's level up to the peak target in Preferences > Audio (Normalize peak level), without clipping. The waveform looks taller because the level actually went up, not because the display was zoomed.

If you only want to see a quiet waveform more clearly, leave Normalize off and use Shift+Up / Shift+Down. That zooms the waveform drawing only.

If you already turned Normalize on and the level is wrong, turn the switch off, then open Event Properties and hit Recalculate if the event was trimmed after it was normalized.

  3. btw this is not the spectrum - audio spectrum shows frequency level - in your case this is simplify (envelope) waveform viewer - normalize as already pointed normalize (usually to 1) level of recording.

  4. Shift+Up / Shift+Dow zooms me all the audio tracks can I zoom only one?

Not per track, sadly. Shift+Up/Down scales the waveform drawing on every audio track at once, and Vegas doesn't have a single-track version of it.

Two things get close. Make just that track taller by dragging the bottom edge of its track header, or click Maximize on that track's header so it fills the timeline, then click it again to go back. The waveform grows with the track height, so the quiet one gets easier to read and the other tracks stay as they are.

The other way is to switch Normalize on for that one event while you look, then switch it off again afterwards. Just remember Normalize changes the real level, not only the drawing.
