    True.
The derailing often happens when one feels obligated to chime in, commenting or correcting statements which are technically incorrect or an accumulation of half-truths which may be misleading users.
Anyway, the OP has made a good decision IMO despite of all the "video experts babble" in between

Good choice. As long as you have a good player, a decent laptop and an IOData GV‑USB2 will allow you to get high‑quality captures.

Yes, post some samples of your captures here, so we can give you specific feedback and help with the post‑processing workflow if needed.

Finally, we agreed on something. I'll skip the rest of your BS for now.

CCD is physically RGB device. It produces 3 electrical signals per pixel, which are interpreted as R, G, B. You know that, of course, don't you?
We can't convert that YUV to standard RGB. However, according your logic CCD can easily produce such RGB!
Have it ever crossed your mind to calculate what the electrical levels the CCD should produce to create such magical RGB, which could be then converted to YUV (225,210,180)?
No? Well, I calculated. Your CCD needs to produce voltage equivalent to RGB (326,169,409) on 0 to 255 scale.
I'm pretty sure you can easily prove that CCD won't saturate on that amount of light, diaphragm won't even bother close up, there is no voltage limiter on conversion matrix input, and that conversion matrix, whether it analog or digital, will single-handedly convert it to YUV.
    Please entertain me.
Head switching noise? Use my Custom JVC VCR Service Remote Control (PTU94023B) to eliminate it!

No need. You can bullshit yourself about your incompetence for as long as you like (You are just moving from "sensor physics and recording electronics" to a simple problem of color gamut mapping").

I told dellsam34 that I would stop this off-topic discussion, and I'm a man of my word.
