Hello. This is to people who have used Videoredo before, and have removed commercials, or ads, or whatever you wanna call them. Do you need to have a particular TYPE of video for it to work? I have a DVR, and it encodes it's files in .MTS format. They are in HD. I had tried to remove commercials with the software, but with not much luck. Anyone have any tips and tricks to pass along on how to get the software to remove the commercials?

  2. VideoReDo's automatic ad removal (Ad-Detective) doesn't need a special file type, but it works best on clean broadcast transport streams, and DVR .MTS files often have small stream errors that throw it off. A few things that usually help:

    1. Run Tools > Quick Stream Fix on the .MTS first, then open the fixed file.
    2. Make sure you're on the H.264-capable version (TVSuite H.264). HD DVR recordings are usually H.264, and the older Plus version only handles MPEG-2.
    3. In Ad-Detective settings, try logo detection: mark the channel logo area so it cuts where the logo disappears. Many channels no longer put black frames between ads, so black-frame detection alone misses them.
    4. Treat the result as a first pass. Let it place the cut markers, step through them and fix the few it gets wrong, then save in the same format so nothing gets re-encoded.

If it still finds nothing, post a MediaInfo report of one of the files and people here can tell you what it's dealing with.

  3. I used to use it but found it very unstable, I moved to free Avidemux. Use the up/down cursor keys to navigate the video and that ensures you cut on i-frames. Lots of demo videos on YouTube of the simple process.
